Charlie Kirk died a martyr, now it's time for us to take up his torch and carry on his movement.

Assassination of Charlie Kirk: A Martyr for Conservative Christian Values Silenced by Far-Left Extremism

Free Speech Politics Radical Leftism US News Woke Ideology

Yesterday, on 10 September 2025, we lost one of the most thoughtful, rational, and logical conservative Christian voices in the world today. Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was brutally assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University, shot in the neck from approximately 200 feet away while addressing a crowd of young students. The attack, described by Utah Governor Spencer Cox as a “political assassination,” unfolded in horrifying detail, with video footage capturing the moment Kirk clutched his wound as blood poured out, before collapsing amid screams from the audience. President Donald Trump, a close ally, mourned him as a “martyr for truth” in an emotional Oval Office address, highlighting the profound loss to the nation. A manhunt for the shooter continues, with the FBI and local authorities combing the scene for clues in what appears to be a targeted act of ideological hatred.

Charlie Kirk gave a voice to millions of young conservatives who, for years, have been afraid to openly show their political allegiances on college campuses. This fear stems from the exact kind of far-left extremist violence that ended his life—a man murdered simply for holding normal, moderate conservative Christian views. Through Turning Point USA, which he co-founded in 2012 at the age of 18, Kirk transformed the landscape of youth activism, organising campus tours, debates, and events that empowered students to challenge the dominant progressive narratives without fear of reprisal. His podcast and social media presence reached tens of millions, fostering a generation unafraid to defend traditional values like patriotism, family, and faith. Yet, this very mission made him a target for those who cannot tolerate dissent, culminating in his assassination on a campus meant to be a bastion of free speech.

Rather than silence us, Charlie’s murder will strengthen our resolve and inspire us even more to speak out against the extremists on the far left. It is time to demand accountability from those peddling and financing this evil, hate-filled vitriol that makes leftists think it is acceptable and normal to assassinate someone for their political views. This same hatred and vitriol mirrors what we see from the far left in the UK, where parents expressing legitimate fears for their children’s safety—amid concerns over radical ideologies infiltrating schools—are smeared as “Nazi scum” by militant activists and their enablers in the media. This toxic rhetoric has been allowed to fester for far too long, poisoning public discourse and normalising violence against anyone who dares to uphold conservative principles. It is high time to put a stop to it, before more innocent lives are claimed.

The mainstream media (MSM) outlets in the US, such as MSNBC, are having to make apologies today for vile comments that essentially called Charlie a divisive figure who deserved what he got—for simply holding mainstream conservative views. In a shocking display during live coverage of the assassination, MSNBC senior political analyst Matthew Dowd suggested that Kirk’s “awful words” had led to “awful actions,” implying his rhetoric somehow justified the violence. The backlash was swift and severe, forcing MSNBC to issue a grovelling apology and fire Dowd, with network president Rebecca Kutler stating that his remarks were inappropriate and not reflective of their standards. But this was not isolated; other news outlets have faced criticism for similar shameful comments. For instance, segments on CNN and elsewhere have been accused of downplaying the tragedy or subtly shifting blame onto Kirk’s “controversial” stances, as highlighted by international outlets like Sky News Australia, which tore into the “disturbing left-wing media attack” on a man gunned down in cold blood. Author Douglas Murray blasted MSNBC’s coverage as “shameful,” pointing out how such smears dehumanise conservatives and fuel further division.

These MSM news outlets are complicit in his death due to the hate-filled vitriol and lies they spew every single day, demonising people on the right for holding normal conservative views. By constantly portraying conservatives as “extremists” or “threats to democracy,” they create an environment where violence becomes thinkable—even justifiable—to their audiences. This is unequivocally a left-wing problem; it is predominantly the left who engage in political violence, not the right. From campus disruptions to antifa riots and now assassinations, the pattern is clear: when arguments fail, force follows. These so-called news outlets should be proscribed as domestic terrorists for pushing the violent, divisive, hate-filled rhetoric that they vomit out every single day. Their role in stoking hatred cannot be ignored any longer; regulatory bodies and lawmakers must step in to hold them accountable, perhaps through defamation reforms or even classifications under anti-terrorism laws if their output continues to incite harm.

Adding to the outrage are the disgusting and sickening displays of celebration and joy shown by leftist trolls on social media, revelling in the death of a father and husband who did absolutely nothing wrong other than be a Christian conservative. Posts flooded platforms like X (formerly Twitter), with users declaring “good riddance” and claiming Kirk “deserved it” for his views on issues like Ukraine, George Floyd, or empathy in politics. One user wrote, “The only good fascist is a dead one,” while another mocked his family, saying, “He got exactly what he deserved.” Others celebrated outright, with comments like “Charlie Kirk is dead??? Lmaooo good riddance” and “Good Riddance! Good Charlie Kirk is dead.” To these leftists on social media: if you have taken to platforms to celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk, then you are the extremists, not Charlie. You are the ones on the wrong side of history, and you are the ones whose hearts are full of hatred and evil. Look deeply into your hearts and decide if that is really the side you want to be aligned with—a side that cheers the murder of a man leaving behind a grieving wife, Erika, and two young children who witnessed the horror. Such depravity exposes the true face of far-left ideology: not compassion, but cruelty masked as justice.

We hope that this horrific attack on conservative Christian values will be a catalyst that brings change and puts a stop to the hate-filled division that has engulfed the West. It must result in not just the scumbag who pulled the trigger being brought to justice, but also every single organisation promoting, and every single billionaire funding, this far-leftist extremist hatred being held to account. From Soros-backed groups to radical activist networks, their complicity in fostering an atmosphere of violence must be exposed and dismantled once and for all. Investigations should probe funding trails, media biases, and campus radicalisation, ensuring those who enabled this tragedy face legal consequences.

Finally, Charlie Kirk died a martyr, doing what he did best: opening young minds and giving the silenced Christian and conservative majority youth a voice on college campuses around the world. His final moments were spent inspiring the next generation to think critically and embrace faith-based conservatism, a legacy that will endure far beyond his untimely death. Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with his wife Erika, his children, and his family and loved ones during this unimaginable time of grief. Charlie will never be forgotten by those of us whose hearts he has touched over the years—through his debates, his unyielding optimism, and his commitment to making America great for future generations.

Carrying Charlie’s Torch: A Call to Conservative Christians

Conservatives, Christians, and all decent people must rise up to stamp out this far-left extremist hate. Strengthen campus security, demand media reforms, support organisations like Turning Point USA, and vote out enablers of division. Let Charlie’s sacrifice not be in vain; let it unite us in sombre determination to reclaim our societies from the grip of hatred. The time for complacency is over—act now, before the next voice is silenced. To every conservative Christian reading this: pick up Charlie’s torch and carry on his work. Do not be silenced by these leftist extremists. Speak louder, organise bolder, and defend the values of faith, family, and freedom with renewed vigour. Join campus chapters, host debates, mentor the youth, and expose the lies that divide us. Charlie showed us the way—now it’s our duty to illuminate the path forward, ensuring his voice echoes through generations. In his memory, let us build a world where truth triumphs over tyranny, and no patriot is ever gunned down for daring to believe.
