Lucasfilm bows to woke Twitter mob and fires The Mandalorian’s Gina Carano

Cancel Culture Free Speech World News

In the latest example of leftist “cancel culture”, Lucasfilm has bowed down to the baying woke, leftist Twitter mob calling for Gina Carano to be fired from the hit show, The Mandalorian.

The former female MMA fighter turned actor has been the latest conservative victim of woke cancel culture after being fired from the hit Disney Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian, after a Twitter campaign to get get her axed from the show was successful in convincing Lucasfilm to drop the actress’ character Cara Dune from the show.

In a statement released by Lucasfilm, a spokesperson said: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.”

Adding: “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,”

Ms Carano was dropped from the hit show after posting the following comment on Instagram:

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children.

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

So Lucasfilm have supposedly dropped Gina Carano for “abhorrent and unacceptable” social media posts that “denigrate people based on their cultural and religious identities”?

OK, so firstly, let’s take a look at the dictionary definition of the word “dengrating”:

denigrate/ˈdɛnɪɡreɪt/verbgerund or present participle: denigrating

criticize unfairly; disparage. “doom and gloom merchants who denigrate their own country”

Well, I for one fail to see anywhere in Ms Carano’s Instagram post, evidence of any criticism, whether fairly or unfairly, of the Jewish people.

So what about evidence of disparaging the Jewish people? Well lets take a look at the definition of that word too:

disparage/dɪˈsparɪdʒ/verb

regard or represent as being of little worth.” he never missed an opportunity to disparage his competitors”

Where in Gina Carano’s post did she regard or represent the Jewish victims of the holocaust as “being of little worth”?

While many news outlets such as the BBC have reported that the actress was fired for posting an “anti-Semitic story” on Instagram, the truth is that there is nothing anti-Semitic in her post.

And while other primarily left-leaning news outlets have claimed that Ms Carano’s post likens the “murder of millions of Jews” to that of the current political climate in the US, that is also simply not true.

What Ms Carano’s post did, was to draw a comparison to the climate in Nazi Germany where Jewish people were hated and ostracised simply because of the fact that they were Jewish, with the current climate, not only in the US but also around the western world where many people are hated and ostracised simply because of their political affiliation.

Indeed, simply pointing out that many conservative voices in our society are in fact, hated and ostracised because of their differences or differences of opinion, which is surprising really given the supposed tolerance and inclusiveness of the left-wing of the political spectrum.

The “cancelling” of Ms Carano’s career due to her right-wing political views is a perfect example of this.

Nowhere did the post unfairly criticise or disparage Jewish people and nowhere did it liken the current political climate in the US to the murder of millions of Jews in Nazi concentration camps, as reported by left-wing biased news outlets such as the BBC.

With the hashtag #FireGinaCarano trending on Twitter for hours before her sacking by Lucasfilm and following false reports and accusation of an anti-Semitic story that the actress had apparently shared on her Instagram account, the hate campaign and subsequent dropping of Gina Carano by Lucasfilm appears to have less to do with an act of social justice and has much more in common with the typical leftist cancel culture witch hunts that are becoming all too common for outspoken conservatives, in this time of political correctness run amok and the growing intolerance by some sections of modern society of an individuals right to hold an opinion that may differ to their own.
